Achieve Your Goals Like An Athlete!
A lot of my
fitness friends have this “train like an athlete, act like an athlete, be an
athlete” kind of fitness mentality. This
outlook is SO SO true! And you know
what? You don’t have to be an athlete to live like this either. Athletes have massage therapists, yoga
instructors, fitness trainers, athletic coaches, nutritionists, meditation
teachers, and they make ample time to SLEEP. They
get all of this stuff in because it allows them to perform at their peaks. Athletes train hard because their JOB IS TO
WIN! But...isn’t that your job too? Shouldn’t we all perform at our very best? I
believe if we start to think like athletes, we will start to make things
happens and achieve our goals with greatness.
Here are 5
things that elite athletes do that we can all learn from:
1.
Athletes set BIG TIME GOALS! Football players WANT their team to get into
the Super Bowl. Maria Sharapova wanted
to be a World Tennis Association Champ!
She didn’t just wake up one day and say I think I’ll be a four-time
grand slam winner (So Elle Woods!). She
set lofty goals.

LISTEN TO YOUR GUT, NOT YOUR BUT!
Hey Fit Leaders!
I HAVE to tell you this! On Friday, I had a lovely meeting
with an inspiring woman (hope you’re reading!) and she asked, “How do
you ALWAYS go and make things happen” She questioned my ability to
always go-go-go and actually get things done well. I told her that I’ve
learned when to pull back and I am getting better at that. I explained
how I do 13 things to keep sane, but once I hit 14, I go a bit off of
the charts :) I have learned to recognize when I do too much because
things in my life will start to backfire. I listen to my gut on when to
take a day off - even when I don’t want to, because I intuitively know I
NEED it.
Over the weekend, I had to go with my gut feelings and listen to my
intuitions again. I have a lot going on and I have been working hard to
pivot the way I do pretty much everything to achieve my goals and feel
great while doing it all (of course). I had big plans to go out on
Saturday night and even bigger to see family friends on Sunday.
However, I felt like something wasn’t right in my body all day on
Saturday. Something was off. As I was heading out for the
night, I started to get sick - my whole body ached. But, I put on a
smile and pretended to feel great as I left for the party in my dress
and heels. Well…clearly I wasn’t meant to go out because I got locked
out of my apartment! It was a sign.

What's your happy place?
Over Thanksgiving, my family and I were talking about a common college
admission essay questions regarding our happy place or a place that has
specific meaning to us. The writers are supposed to write about why
these places are important, how they make them feel, and what the
significance of the places allow the writers to do. We all asked each
other what our special places are. Answers ranged from a mother's
kitchen and a bedroom to a stage or Starbucks!
What's your special place? Really think about it - even if it doesn't physically exist anymore. During stressful times, it's important to think about these happy places. Who was with you? What are you doing? How good does it make you feel? What do you feel empowered to do? Even if you can't physically go to that place when the world is crazy, you CAN escape for energy.
You see, energy is a funny thing. In order to gain some, we have to expend some. However, sometimes moving and sweating isn't actually what we need when everything feels hectic. Sometimes, we have to sit, and MOVE and EXERCISE our MINDS to be at our happy place. Visualize everything about it and feel everything about it. These happy places can remind us of why we work so hard for whatever is going on.

What do you do when your workout SUCKS?
What do you do when you workout SUCKS?
I'm serious! The instructor sucks, the exercises are boring, and it hurts you to endure it all!
I hope all three aren't hitting you right now, but I know we've all hit this wall at one point or another.
Currently, I'm in a rut. I'm a group fitness girl and I love group fitness classes like dance, cardio kick, boot camps, barre, and yoga. I also like to workout on my own to lift (think squats, deadlifts) and work on core power with the TRX and Kettlebells. For the past few months, I've been going to a new gym and during the workout I went to on Saturday morning, the only words that ran through my head was "THIS WORKOUT F-ING SUCKS!!!" It was annoying because it's a "cult-like" workout that everyone seems to love. Some days I just want to move, but following their program doesn't work for me. After I cursed out the workout because I truly hated how I felt, I knew I had to make a change.
If I want to feel better, look better, and do better things in my life, then I have to take a risk and do something new! There's no one workout program right for everyone, so playing around with different workouts will help you to find what works. The funny thing is, what we do about our un-fulfilling workout routine actually translates to what we do when faced with similar situations in our whole life! So let's connect everything and make sh*t happen!

Time to Wake Up and Live the Life You Love
The very first thing you need to connect with right now before you go any further is write down exactly what you want your life to look like at the end of this process; be very specific in what area of your life.f only you could be led by your dreams and not hindered by your problems to bring back the passion in the life that you want to live…
It’s time for you to examine your current life and go through the process to identify what you have been spending your time and energy on. Where is your focus? Are you focusing on what you don’t like in your life?
This process will take you through a journey where you deep dive into your unconscious habits, to seek and discover whether your focus is aligned with your dreams or not.

How to Be Happy
Happiness is not a simple goal, but is progress as result of striving,
seeking, finding and keeping self-actualizing work and fun, even when
it's as elusive as ever. Being happy often means finding
satisfaction/contentment, feeling joyful, and sensing that your life is
meaningful.
[1] Nobody is jolly and elated all the time, but some individuals are definitely more fulfilled than others. Some studies reveal that happiness has little to do with possessions -- so what is it about? Now, since being happy is good for your health, what can we do?
